Hi! I’m Akshay. I’m a filmmaker and creative producer with a mission to make people connect with each other on a human level. All my projects - my films, my work as President of Rickshaw Film Foundation, and my desire to make a monthly dinner party comes back to that central thesis. In a world where it’s easier than ever to disconnect, I see storytelling as our primary mode for human empathy. 

The films I’ve directed and produced have been screened at festivals around the country including Palm Springs International ShortsFest, Cleveland International Film Festival, LA Shorts, Wyoming International, and more. 

I’m currently working on a docu-series detailing a personal journey of doing a monthly challenge that takes me out of my comfort zone. You can find the first episode here and on Instagram. 

I was raised in Illinois, and went to USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where I double majored in Film and TV Production and Media Arts + Practice. Since I graduated in 2020, I’ve been creating under my banner, Empty Lot Productions, named for the empty lot across the street I grew up on, which was the first place I explored my imagination.
